ATTENTION NEIGHBORS:

NEIGHBORS ON ARCHERS GLEN HAD MAIL STOLEN FROM THEIR MAILBOXES!  Please read the account below from one of those neighbors along with Officer Skiles’ (East Hempfield Police) suggestions for our neighborhood:

 “I put a birthday card in our mailbox early [Monday morning].  I was passing our front door, saw a car stop at our mailbox and open it.  I ran out the garage door, but the car took off at speed up Archers Glen, I checked the mailbox and the card had gone, fortunately there was no cash or check in the card.  We just go back from reporting it to Hempfield Police and the Officer we spoke with took the details and advised the neighborhood should be aware.  The Officer also advised against putting any mail with checks or cash in mailboxes, take to the Post Office and mail inside.”

Officer Skiles indicated that the vehicles used for the two mailbox robberies were different.  Mailbox robberies are happening everywhere, and the criminals are very brazen about it.  He recommended several things that we could communicate with our neighbors given the recent activity in our community:

1.  If you see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary, please report it to the police immediately.

2.  Don’t put any mail in your mailbox for pickup, instead take it to the Post Office.

3.  If you have cameras, please register that fact on the police website.

4.  If you don’t have cameras, the police highly recommend that you get them.
